I am very happy that I join you here this afternoon for this important event. I am grateful to John Quinn for the invitation to me and all of the warm welcome that.

Of course, the passionate support of our mother tongue was Douglas Hyde, and resolute man who fought to protect it. He understood the significance of language as part of our shared heritage and conservation timelapse importance of belonging and as a vehicle for so many of our traditions; tradition that connects us to our ancestors, and a reminder of complex cultural and historical background that created the Ireland we live in today.

Tonight we celebrate is the role of the Irish language in our great literary tradition - a tradition that we are renowned for around the world. Literary contest is unique in Foras na Gaeilge Irish literary life and celebrates the work of publishers, writers and artists who have come together to produce beautiful publications through Irish.
I note that the children's literature timelapse award named after famous fictional timelapse detective Cathal Ó Bowling Green, Réics Carlo, a gcuimhním it from my secondary school days, thus reminding us of the importance of ensuring that the language recovery between generations in Ireland, which is becoming more urbanized gradually, and keep working to ensure that the community grows and develops, social networks and farther away than the Gaeltacht area.
An important aspect of this work is to be carried timelapse out and to ensure that new generations of children have access to a wide range of Irish in Irish literature showing the world they live in today: timelapse a daily experience; courses their children, to friendship, their problems and the multicultural society in which they are growing up and learning about life.
We know that the literature is one of the methods available today to help children gain a better understanding of the world they live in and their own relationship to the world to prove. It is important that children have access to books written in need
